Christmas.
Some love it, some hate it, and most are secretly just waiting for the presents.
The meaning of the season, although it is unchanging, has gotten distorted over the years.
Some believe it's about family and love.
Some believe it's a season of giving.
Some believe it's a time to decorate festively and throw parties.
Some believe is a time to be joyful.
Although all of these things might be things we do during the holidays, they aren't the reason.
The reason for the season is explained in the gospel of Luke, chapter 2 verse 11:
"Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord."
Don't let the family, gift giving, and Christmas parties distract you from the reason you're celebrating.
Take some time this Christmas season to thank God for sending his son down to earth.
